Local chat history
Free Grind keeps a copy of your conversations on your device. Messages and received media stay available even when Grindr no longer returns them, for example after an expiring photo, an unsent message or a block.
What it gives you
- Chat search across all your conversations.
- Profiles that are gone: if someone's live profile isn't available any more, Free Grind shows the last info saved on your device.
- Block activity: Settings → Block Activity shows who has blocked or unblocked you, and when.
- Video gallery: every video you've received in chats and albums in one place. Turn it on in Settings → Optional Features.
- Revealed viewers: anonymous profile viewers are matched with your history, see Views and taps.
Backup and restore
Backup & Restore in Settings saves your data to a file and restores it on another device or after a reinstall. You choose what to include:
- Chat messages
- Media and albums
- Saved phrases
- Saved locations
- Settings
- Sexual health data
On Android you can save the backup to any folder or cloud storage, for example Google Drive.
Settings → Export Chat Data additionally downloads all locally stored messages as a JSON file.
WARNING
Uninstalling Free Grind deletes the local history. Make a backup first if you want to keep it.
